Race 1 7/21/06 at the Big A
The Aqueduct Handicap is the 1st test of the year for EA, a race he won 4 years earlier. But
his hesitation out of the gate continues, and he is 2nd too last most of the race. When he finally gets going, its a length
to late to catch Happy Hunting.
Race 2 3/4/06 at the Big A
The Stymie is up next, with an easier field. EA is entered with 7yo Dr. Rockett, and
the two old timers go off as the favorites, which would be the last such time for EA. But after breaking slowly, EA can only
get up to 3rd.
Race 3 4/1/06 at the Big A
Time to face the now 6 year old Funny Cide in the Excelsior. While Funny Cide closed for 2nd
behind West Virginia, EA finishes 5th.
Race 4 4/22/06 at Hawthorne
Looking for a change of scene to get him going, EA makes his only start here in the Grade 3 National
Jockey Club Handicap. But after hesitating at the gate, he only manages 5th. However, Courthouse bothered him in the stretch
which did not help, and EA is moved up to 4th.
Race 5 5/12/06 at Belmont
Time for some class relief. As he had done many times in the past, trainer Pat Kelly enters EA
in an allowance. But this time it does not work. EA is last the entire races, and beaten by 10 1/2 lengths. With no where
else to go, EA is sent off to the farm. It is the 1st time in his life he does not win a race in a calendar year. It clearly
looks like the end of the road for the 8 year old gelding.
